Walmart requires the products you sell on its marketplace to have a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number). Your products will be removed from their platform if you don’t have a GTIN exemption.
After connecting your Walmart store to Printful and before you start pushing products, you’ll need to request an exemption for Printful-fulfilled products, specifying that these products will be fulfilled by Printful and created upon order placement. Here’s how:
- On Walmart’s Help Center, select Get Support > Items and Inventory > Request exemption > UPC exemptions.
- When directed to their Help article, scroll to the bottom and select No under Did this solve your issue? This will allow you to contact Walmart support about the exemption.
- Select the Open case via live chat or Open case via email options and answer their questions. Ensure you mention Printful and made-to-order so Walmart knows we’re your print-on-demand provider and speeds up the process.
- Select the product categories that apply to your items.
a. To ensure quick product processing, we recommend applying to up to 3 categories per case. - Submit the exception form, and you’re all set.
