Most Etsy integration errors come from Etsy's own listing and shop rules, or a temporary mismatch between your Etsy shop and your Printful Dashboard. Below are the most common connection, sync, publishing, order import, and shipping errors, grouped by category, along with how to resolve each one. If you're just getting started, see how to connect Etsy with Printful first.

Connection/sync issues
Why do I get "Shop not found" or "This account has no associated etsy.com stores"?
This appears when you try to connect a personal Etsy account instead of a seller account. Only Etsy shops can be connected to Printful. Confirm you have an active shop, not just a buyer account, and log out of Etsy and back in with the correct account during the "Allow access" step. If you don't have a shop yet, go to etsy.com/sell and select Get started.
Why does my Etsy store fail to connect to Printful?
Work through these steps in order:
- Check whether the shop is already connected to a different Printful account (if so, remove it there first via Settings → Store settings → General → Remove store; Printful support can't do this for you).
- Confirm you've completed Etsy's full seller onboarding at etsy.com/sell.
- Clear your browser's cache and cookies or try an incognito window; then follow the Etsy connection steps again.
Why does my Etsy store show as "Unavailable Shop"?
This means Etsy is reporting your shop as unreachable.
- Click Reconnect if it appears next to your store in Printful (Stores → View store, or My products → Published).
- Open your Etsy shop URL directly to confirm it loads and isn't in vacation mode or suspended, and click Refresh data on your store on Printful.
If the shop loads fine on Etsy but the error continues, it's likely temporary on Etsy's side; if it persists for more than a day, contact our Support Team.
What does "refresh_token is revoked" or "oauth_problem: token_revoked" mean?
Usually this happens after you change your Etsy account password, which revokes all existing API tokens. Click Reconnect on your store in the Printful Dashboard to reauthorize with a fresh token; this won't affect your existing products or settings.
Why do I get a "system error while syncing store" message?
Shown as "Something went wrong with sync on [store name]", this tends to happen when a store has a very large number of variants.
Turning off Import not synced products from Etsy and selecting Remove in your store's import settings often resolves it.
Product publishing errors
Why does publishing to Etsy fail?
A generic "Publishing failed" error can have several causes.
- Confirm your store shows as Active on Printful under Stores (if it shows a sync error instead, resolve that first, following the steps shared above).
- Check whether the product has more than 100 variants, since Etsy caps listings at 100. If you published from a template, duplicate the template and try again; if you published directly from the catalog, recreate the product, save it as a template, then publish that.
Why do I get "Product was not added! Unknown Etsy client exception"?
This is almost always a tag length issue. Etsy limits each tag to 20 characters, and this error appears when at least one tag exceeds that. Shorten your tags and try publishing again. See Etsy tag limitations for the full set of rules.
Why doesn't changing my print file update the mockup on Etsy?
If a listing already has 20 images on Etsy's side (Etsy's maximum per listing), Printful can't push a new mockup automatically, since there's no reliable way to tell which image belongs to which variant.
Use Change print file and select all variants so every mockup updates together, or upload the new mockup manually on Etsy. Re-pushing the listing also works, though Etsy will charge a new listing fee.
Why do my Etsy products keep unsyncing?
Setting a Primary color in your Etsy listing settings can cause other color variants to disappear, and the product to unsync. Editing Size or Primary color directly on Etsy can also remove other size or color options.
Most of these are limitations on Etsy's side rather than something you caused. Unfortunately, the fix is to manually re-sync the affected products in your Printful Dashboard.
Why do I get an error about multiple variants with the same identity?
Etsy doesn't allow option values (like color or size) longer than 20 characters, and import can fail if that limit is exceeded or two variants end up with identical values.
Try adding the product to your store again; if that doesn't work, publish the listing on Etsy first, then import it into Printful.
Why does my product title or listing get rejected?
Etsy enforces specific rules for titles and descriptions. If a push or sync fails because of this, the error message will point to the part of the listing that needs adjusting.
See our Etsy listing handbook guide and tag limitations article for Etsy's current requirements.
Order import failure
Why don't my Etsy orders show up in Printful?
If an order is confirmed and paid on Etsy but hasn't appeared in your Printful Dashboard:
- Check our general guide on what to do if your order hasn't shown up in Printful.
- Confirm the order is marked Paid, has a unique order number, and includes a shipping address.
- Check that the product variant shows as synced in your Printful Dashboard; if it shows as not synced, enable Import unsynced orders. Then click Refresh data on your store.
In case the product variant does not exist on Printful, the order will not import, and you'll need to recreate it manually in your Printful Dashboard.
Shipping error
Why doesn't my Etsy shipping profile save correctly?
An error like "Object has validation errors: shipping_profile_name... already exists" usually means your Printful-generated shipping profile was duplicated on Etsy's side. Printful uses a unique identifier (a string like "PF-FRG2") in the profile name to track it, and having two shipping profiles with that same identifier causes a conflict.
To fix it, go to your Etsy shipping profile settings, remove the duplicate identifier text from the profile name, and save your changes.
