Our mugs are crafted using a specialized method called dye sublimation. Unlike traditional printing, this process creates vibrant, long-lasting designs that bond directly with the mug’s surface. This ensures your custom creations from the Printful catalog won't peel or crack, even with daily use. Here is a step-by-step look at how we bring your designs to life.
Here’s how it works, step by step:
- Design printing: Your design is inkjet-printed onto special transfer paper using dye-sublimation inks. The image is printed in reverse (mirrored).
- Wrapping the mug: The printed transfer paper is wrapped around the mug so the design is facing inward toward the surface.
- Heat and pressure application: The mug is placed in a heat press. High temperature and pressure cause the ink to turn into gas and bond with the mug’s special coating.
- Design becomes permanent: The ink blends into the coating, making the image part of the mug itself. It won’t peel or crack over time.
This method results in a smooth, durable finish that can handle everyday use.
