Yes; many of the materials we use for packaging can be recycled, but it depends on your local recycling guidelines and the type of packaging used.
What can be recycled?
- PCR plastic mailers: Made from low-density polyethylene (LDPE), also known as number 4 plastic. This type of plastic is recyclable but usually not accepted in regular curbside bins. Instead, it needs to be dropped off at designated recycling points (like those for plastic bags).
- Kraft mailers and cardboard boxes: These are widely recyclable and can go in your paper recycling bin.
Local recycling rules
Recycling practices vary by location, so it’s always best to check with your local waste management provider for proper sorting instructions.
Note: Placing the wrong materials in the recycling bin can contaminate the entire batch and cause it to be discarded.
