When it comes to embroidery, all files need to be digitized to a format the embroidery machines support.
Each embroidery type (flat/3D) requires a separate digitized file. For registered Printful accounts, this is a one-time fee for each new design, and the fee depends on the type and placement of the design:

It’s important to note that when you add new elements to an already digitized file, it’s a new design that has to be digitized again.
However, if you order any 25+ embroidery products in a single order, we’ll digitize all your embroidery designs for free. You can later reuse the digitized files for the same type of embroidery orders (note that the digitized files are for internal use only, so they can’t be used elsewhere).
Note that the stitch density and direction differ in hat versus apparel and bag embroidery. If you want to use hat embroidery files for apparel and bags or vice versa, they need to be adjusted, and this costs $2.95 (€2.50) per file. 3D puff techniques aren't available on apparel and bags, so any previously digitized 3D puff hat files have to be digitized from scratch for apparel and bags.
Remember that we don't accept embroidery files that have been digitized elsewhere because these files need to be adjusted to work with our embroidery machines.
Digitization fees for Embroidered Patches:
- If a previously digitized file is applied to a patch outside of its print area (for example, a transparent part), we’ll have to create a new print file and charge the full digitization fee instead of the adjustment fee.
- The patch stitch density and direction are the same as for apparel. If you want to use patch embroidery files for hats, they need to be adjusted, costing $2.95 (€2.50) per file.
