Certain states require marketplaces to charge and remit sales taxes for their users. In these cases, we won't charge you tax, and you don't have to charge your customers tax, as it only has to be collected by the marketplace for that state. You can see how this affects our integrations with Etsy, Amazon, eBay, Bonanza, and Big Cartel (although Big Cartel isn’t a marketplace, it also charges tax on behalf of the seller). In states where your marketplace does not charge sales tax, we will apply sales tax on the order.

If you have given a resale certificate to a marketplace to become exempt from sales tax, make sure you submit it to us as well, so we don't charge you either.
