Why is my order on hold?
Your order is on hold because we need to confirm something with you before it can go into fulfillment. This is usually a problem with the print file, the delivery address, stock availability, or payment. Nothing is canceled, and the order resumes as soon as the issue is resolved.
Why is my order on hold?
Orders are placed on hold to ensure everything is in order before printing and shipping. Common reasons include:
- Print file problems, such as low resolution or content that doesn't meet our guidelines
- An incomplete or incorrect delivery address
- One or more products in the order being out of stock
- Security or payment concerns
How are holds removed?
Once you've updated your order, reply to the hold notification email you received. We'll review the changes and remove the hold if everything looks correct.
For minor issues, you'll see a Remove hold button in your order view. That means you can lift the hold yourself without waiting for our team to review it.
What should I do if my order is on hold?
- Open the hold email or go to Orders in your Printful Dashboard.
- Read the hold message to find out what needs attention.
- Depending on the issue:
- If print file changes are needed, click Change order, make the updates, then request hold removal. We'll review and clear the hold if everything is correct.
- If a product is out of stock, use Change order to swap in an available variant or a different product. If you'd rather wait for the item to be restocked, reply to the hold notification email to let us know.
- If there's no Change order button, reply to the hold notification email with the changes you'd like to make.
- If no changes are needed, reply to the hold notification email to let us know.
After you reply, we'll either remove the hold or come back to you if we need more details.
What happens if my order stays on hold for more than 30 days?
Orders on hold for more than 30 days are automatically canceled and refunded. The refund goes to your Printful Wallet. To withdraw the funds:
- Go to Printful Dashboard → Billing → Printful Wallet.
- Click Withdraw.
How can I reorder items from a canceled order?
To repurchase items from an order that was canceled:
- Go to Printful Dashboard → Orders and filter by Canceled.
- Find and open the order, and click Copy order.
- The order details will transfer to a new draft, where you can make changes and place the order again.
Copying a canceled order doesn't carry over the original hold reason. If the order was held for a print file or address problem, fix that in the draft before placing it, or the new order will be held again for the same reason.
