TikTok Shop requires every product to have a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) or a valid exemption. Since Printful’s custom products don’t come with GTINs, we automatically apply a GTIN exemption when syncing Printful products to your TikTok Shop.
How GTIN exemptions work for Printful items
- Printful products do not include GTINs because they’re print-on-demand and customized per order.
- When you push a product from Printful to TikTok Shop, Printful automatically applies a GTIN exemption so you don’t need to provide one or take any additional steps.
Some Printful products aren’t eligible
A few product types require a GTIN (Global Trade Item Number) to be listed on TikTok Shop and don’t qualify for an exemption.
For example, puzzles can’t be added to TikTok Shop because GTINs are mandatory for that category. These products will appear as blocked when you try to add them.
Why GTINs matter for TikTok Sellers
- TikTok uses GTINs (like UPCs or EANs) to uniquely identify product listings and improve catalog accuracy.
- GTINs help protect buyers, reduce duplicate listings, and ensure smoother product reviews.
