Sample orders let you try out Printful products with your own designs at a 20% discount, and they're available for almost any product in our catalog. They're a good way to check print quality, test new products, or create content like mockup photos and giveaway items for your social media.
Who can use sample orders?
Sample orders are available to e-commerce store owners with a connected store. If your store isn't connected to your Printful account, you won't see the sample order option. Once you connect a store, sample orders become available starting the next month. Sample orders aren't intended for resale.
If a sample order discount is available for your account, you'll find it listed under the Billing → Discounts section in your Dashboard.
How many sample orders can I place?
Eligible accounts start with 1 sample order per month, up to 3 items per order.
As your store's monthly sales grow, your order allowance grows with it:

Your monthly accumulated sales are calculated using this formula:
Total order amount − discounts − shipping − tax/VAT + digitization fees + Printful services (e.g., warehousing, digitization)
Sample order limits reset at the start of each calendar month, calculated on the 1st in the UTC time zone. If you're in a different time zone, keep that offset in mind when your allowance resets.
How can I submit a sample order?
Click New order in the upper-right corner of your Dashboard, select the store you want to order from, then choose Test your design.
Can I order a sample without a design?
No. All products ordered from Printful, including samples, must include a printed design. We can't sell blank products due to our supplier agreements. If you're looking for blank items like t-shirts, check directly with the product's manufacturer or search online retailers using the specific product name.
Things to keep in mind
- Customs fees are based on the retail price you set during ordering. To minimize fees, set the retail price to match Printful's base price in the first step.
- You can only use up to 3 shipping addresses for all sample orders. This helps prevent misuse.
- Wall art restrictions for samples:
- Framed Posters: only the 8″ × 10″ size is available.
- Canvas: only the 12″ × 12″ size is available.
- Unframed posters: all sizes are available.
- Sample order discounts can’t be combined with Printful Growth plan discounts, coupon codes, or gift cards.
- Abusing the sample program (like creating multiple accounts) may result in account deletion.
