Setting up shipping accurately is key to ensuring orders move smoothly and you aren’t surprised by unexpected fees. Wix offers several ways to calculate shipping, but due to platform limitations, it’s not possible to set different rates by product category (for example, t-shirts vs mugs).
Because of this, we recommend using Free shipping or Rate by quantity, depending on your store setup.
What do I need before configuring shipping?
Before adjusting your shipping settings, make sure you’ve:
- Connected your Wix store with Printful.
- Upgraded to a Business & eCommerce Premium plan (Core, Business, or Business Elite).
- Added the Wix Stores app to your site.
How do I set up shipping regions and rules in Wix?
- In your Wix Dashboard, go to Settings → Shipping, delivery & fulfillment.
- Wix automatically creates two default regions:
- Domestic (your store’s base country)
-
International (the rest of the world)
You can edit or delete these, or add new regions as needed.
- To create a new region, click Add Region (or Create Region in newer versions), choose a name, add destinations, select the Shipping method and set up the rates.
You can edit, delete, or add regions as needed. If you mainly sell to one region, consider disabling others or setting separate rates for them.
What shipping methods are available, and which one should I use with Printful?
Wix offers a few different ways to calculate shipping rates, but if you're using Printful, we recommend Rate by Quantity or Free Shipping. These methods give you the best control over shipping fees and aligns well with Printful’s flat-rate structure.
Here are the main shipping options in Wix:
- Rate by Weight: You assign approximate weights to your products so Wix can calculate shipping based on total cart weight. This can mirror Printful’s flat-rate tiers, but takes some effort to set up.
- Flat Rate: A fixed fee per order. Easy to set up, but doesn’t scale well if your customers buy multiple items.
- Rate by Price: Shipping based on the total order value. Can be helpful for promotions, but it doesn’t reflect actual shipping costs.
- Rate by Quantity: Shipping based on the number of items. Can accurately reflect Printful's cost structure for a single product category.
- Free Shipping: Best if most of your customers are in one region. You include shipping costs in your product price.
Due to Wix limitations, all orders imported into Printful will use Standard shipping, and shipping rules can’t be tailored by product type. For this reason, we recommend:
- Free Shipping for simple pricing and mixed product catalogs
- Rate by Quantity if you sell similar products with comparable shipping costs
Free shipping
With this method, you include shipping costs in your product price. Customers will see “free shipping,” but the cost is built into what they pay.
Step 1: Set up free shipping in Wix
- Go to Settings → Shipping, delivery & fulfillment in your Wix Dashboard
- Edit or create a new region
- Select Free shipping as the rate type
- Enter a name and optional delivery time
- Click Save
Step 2: Include shipping costs in your product price
When setting your product prices in Printful, include the shipping cost based on your target region. This ensures you’re covering fulfillment costs while offering “free shipping” to customers.
Rate by Quantity
This method lets you set shipping costs based on the number of items in the cart. It works well if you’re selling similar products and want to mimic Printful’s “Single product + Additional product” pricing.
Step 1: Set up quantity-based rates
- Go to Settings → Shipping, delivery & fulfillment
- Create or edit a region
- Select Rate by Quantity
- Enter a name (for example, "Standard shipping")
- (Optional) Add estimated delivery time
- Set quantity ranges and shipping rates based on Printful’s shipping pricing
Example (T-Shirt - USA):
- 1 item = Single product rate = $4.75
- 2 items = Single product rate + Additional product rate = $4.75 + $2.20 = $6.95
- 3 items = $4.75 + $2.20 + $2.20 = $9.15
Step 2: Repeat for other regions
Apply the same setup for additional regions using the appropriate shipping rates.
To make sure everything works as expected, test your checkout by adding products to your cart as a customer and reviewing the shipping costs.
