If you just unpacked a shirt or hoodie and noticed a vinegar-like smell or a light off-white residue on the fabric, don’t worry. This is a normal part of the Direct-to-garment (DTG) printing process.
That scent comes from a fixation agent, also known as pretreatment. It's used to help the ink bond with the fabric so your design doesn't flake or fade.
The good news? It’s temporary.
Both the smell and the residue are temporary and will disappear completely after the first wash. We include a note about this on the packing slip in every DTG order, so there are no surprises.
Just give your new garment a quick wash before wearing it, and you’ll be all set!
