If you just unpacked a shirt or hoodie and noticed a vinegar-like smell or a light off-white residue on the fabric, don’t worry, it’s completely normal and nothing to be concerned about.
That scent comes from a fixation agent, also known as pre-treatment. It’s used in the Direct-to-Garment (DTG) printing process to help the ink stick to the fabric properly. Without it, the ink wouldn’t bond as well and could flake off over time.
The good news? It’s temporary.
Both the smell and any visible residue will disappear after the first wash. We include a note about this on the packing slip in every DTG order, so there are no surprises.
Just give your new garment a quick wash before wearing it, and you’ll be all set!
