Starting August 29, 2025, the US government removed the de minimis duty-free threshold, meaning that most imported goods will now be subject to customs duties. Our teams are closely monitoring how the situation evolves, especially as carriers update their collection and payment processes.
Is Printful absorbing any of the tariff costs?
In some cases, yes. We’re doing our best to absorb costs where possible. Our team continuously analyzes ways to help protect your profit margins so that you feel as little impact as possible.
Will tariffs raise shipping prices, product prices, or both?
Product prices may fluctuate due to changes in the global supply chain. Shipping prices remain the same unless we notify you otherwise. However, if your order is coming from outside the US, an additional customs charge may be applied due to the removal of the de minimis threshold.
Will there be tariffs on items fulfilled and shipped domestically?
No. Orders printed and shipped within the same country or region as your customer won’t require a customs declaration or be subject to tariffs.
For example, if your customer is in the US and their order is fulfilled in a US-based facility, they will not pay any tariffs.
Will these tariffs affect shipping times?
Initially, the removal of the de minimis exemption caused delays and temporary suspensions for orders shipped from EU facilities to the US. However, as of September 11, 2025, shipments from EU facilities to the US have resumed.
We’re taking steps to minimize future disruptions by:
- Using Delivery Duty Paid (DDP) shipping to pay duties upfront and reduce customs processing time and costs.
- Placing orders on hold if out-of-stock variants can’t be rerouted, so you can decide whether to wait, switch products, or cancel.
For now, shipping times have largely stabilized, but orders that lack required information (like phone numbers for international shipments) may still be placed on hold.
Should I adjust my product pricing?
We’ll continue doing everything we can to reduce the impact tariffs have on your business, and we’ll always provide advance notice if price changes are necessary. In the meantime, it’s up to you to decide how to adjust your product pricing.
