Mockup images show how your design will look on a product. Their purpose is to give you high-quality product photos to use on your website or social media.
Mockups are only a reference for printing, so it’s still important to submit a correct print file. That’s what ensures your final product matches your design.

How do I set mockups for the products in my store?
When publishing a product template or creating a new product for your store, you can choose which mockups will appear in your product listing during the Mockups step of the publishing process.
Choosing your mockups:
- Main mockup: Choose your preferred mockup style for the product. You can select whether to display the front, back, or another print area, depending on the available placements.
- Main product image: Click the star icon to set the main product image that will appear in your store. You can select the product color you want to highlight as the main image this way.
- Additional mockups: Under the Additional tab, you can pick extra mockup styles to showcase alongside the main one. This feature is not supported by all integrations. See the full list of compatible integrations here under Additional Mockup Styles.
Changing mockups after publishing:
If you want to change the mockups for a published product, follow the steps in this article.
- Mockup updates work differently depending on the integration.
- Some integrations may not support updating mockups, or they might add new mockups without removing the old ones, so you'll need to manually delete the previous mockups from your store listing.
- In some cases, it might be easier to save the product as a template, delete the original product, and republish it with the desired mockups.
How can I download mockup images?
Here’s how to download your own mockups:
From Product templates:
- Go to Product templates (or My products → Product templates).
- Hover over the template you want to use.
- Click the Download mockups option from the drop-down menu.
From a published product:
- Go to Stores and click View store (or My products → Published).
- Find the product and click Edit.
- In the editing page, click Download mockups.
Once you're in the mockup download page, select the mockup styles, click Generate files, and then Download mockups.
You can use these mockups for your store listings or social media content.
What if I want different mockup images?
Printful has a built-in Custom Mockup Maker, which lets you create unique, high-quality product mockups. It includes scene templates and props to help your products stand out with realistic or styled visuals.
If you want other mockups, we suggest using Placeit. Choose your product, upload your design, and you can have access to their library of mockups.
