No, you don’t need to create your own store to start selling, but it’s highly recommended. Having a store helps automate the order process, saving you time and making it easier to grow your business.
There are multiple ways to sell with Printful:
- Quick Stores – Printful’s own selling platform
- Ecommerce integrations – connecting Printful to platforms like Shopify, Etsy, or WooCommerce
- Submitting orders manually through your Dashboard
- Printful API - code an app that connects your custom-built store to Printful.
1. Quick Stores
Quick Stores is an easy, built-in selling solution available in your Printful Dashboard. It lets you create a simple online store to sell your Printful products without needing a separate website or marketplace. You’ll get a ready-to-share store link, and your customers can shop through a secure checkout.
2. Ecommerce integrations
You can also connect Printful to popular ecommerce platforms like Shopify, Etsy, WooCommerce, and others. These integrations let you sell through established marketplaces or your own hosted website. Orders placed through your connected store are automatically sent to Printful for fulfillment.
There are some ecommerce platforms that Printful doesn’t currently integrate with (e.g., Facebook/Meta Shop, Pinterest, Google Shopping, Walmart). If you’d like to sell on these platforms, you can connect them through a supported platform like Shopify or WooCommerce, or create product listings manually using Printful mockups and submit orders to Printful manually when you receive a sale.
3. Manually submitting orders
If you prefer, you can manually place customer orders directly through your Printful Dashboard. This option is flexible and doesn’t require any integrations or stores. However, keep in mind that this process isn’t ideal for growing businesses, as it requires more time and leaves room for human error.
4. Using the Printful API
For more advanced setups, you can use the Printful API to build custom integrations and automate your workflow. With the API, you can connect Printful directly to your own website or system, automate order submissions, and manage products programmatically.
Which option is best for me?
- Quick Stores: Great if you’re just starting out, want a simple solution, and are based in the US.
- Ecommerce integrations: Best if you want to build a more robust online business with established platforms.
- Manual orders: Suitable for occasional or one-off orders, but not recommended for long-term growth.
- Printful API: Best if you need a custom solution beyond standard integrations and have development resources or technical experience.
