Printful is registered as a VAT on ecommerce (VOEC) payer in Norway. It's a simplified VAT scheme that requires us to charge VAT on orders going to Norway.
So as of November 8, 2021, we're required to collect 25% VAT on orders with a delivery address in Norway. Your customers won't have to pay VAT duties at the border anymore.
The formula we use to calculate VAT on orders going to Norway is (retail price + retail shipping + services)*25%. If the retail price is not known, we'll use the Printful price. In this formula, services mean a digitization fee, if applicable.
Some marketplaces, such as Etsy, eBay, and Amazon, already charge VAT on orders going to Norway. This information is available to Printful for all automatically imported orders, so we won’t charge you VAT a second time.
VAT also won't be applied to orders where a single item retail price for each item (or Printful price if the retail price isn't available for our calculations) is over NOK 3,000 (approx. USD 330 or EUR 300). In this case, your customers will have to pay VAT and customs fees when the order arrives in Norway.
Printful won’t charge you VAT on orders going to Norway if your business is registered in the Norwegian VAT Registry. To learn how to submit your Norway VAT ID to Printful, click here. If you have any questions, take a look at the Norwegian Tax Administration’s guidelines.
