If you sell to customers in Germany, eBay requires you to submit a valid LUCID identification number to comply with the German Packaging Act (VerpackDG). This law applies to all merchants who ship physical goods to Germany and aims to reduce packaging waste.
As of 12 August 2026, LUCID registration is a personal obligation each business completes under its own name. This applies even if Printful fulfills all of your orders. You'll need to register for and submit your own LUCID number; you can no longer use Printful's LUCID ID in place of your own registration. Learn more about the regulation and the LUCID number here.
Uploading a LUCID ID to eBay
Follow these steps to submit your own LUCID number to eBay:
- Go to My eBay → Summary → Account.
- Under Personal Information, select Business Information (you may be asked to log in again).
- Scroll to the Business details section and select Add next to "LUCID ID."
- Enter your LUCID identification number.
- Click Save.
You'll see confirmation that your LUCID identification number has been stored in your eBay account.
If eBay flags your submission
If eBay does flag your submission, check that your account's business name and VAT information match exactly what's registered in LUCID.
Important reminders
- You only need to submit your LUCID ID once per eBay account.
- You can update your LUCID ID at any time in your eBay settings.
- Your own LUCID registration applies regardless of which fulfillment provider(s) you use — it's tied to your business, not to a specific provider, so switching or adding a provider doesn't require re-registering.
