The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is a key part of the EU’s product safety framework, effective from December 13, 2024.
It requires all non-food consumer products sold to customers in the EU to be safe and sets specific obligations for businesses to prove this. GPSR applies to all sales channels - online stores, marketplaces, and physical retail.
Does this apply to me?
You must comply if you sell products to customers in the EU, regardless of where your business is based. If you don’t sell to EU customers, these requirements don’t apply.
I sell my products in the EU. What do I need to do?
Every product listing visible to EU customers must include:
- Manufacturer’s contact details and/or the details of a responsible person in the EU
- Relevant product details (e.g., materials, intended use)
- Product safety and compliance information, like warnings, instructions, or care guidelines, if applicable
Whose information should I add as the manufacturer or responsible person in the EU?
The GPSR requires disclosing the contact details of an economic operator; this can be the manufacturer, importer, authorized representative, or fulfillment service provider.
- If you’re located in the EU: Add your own postal and contact details as the manufacturer.
-
If you’re located outside the EU:
- Add your name, address, and email address as the manufacturer.
- Use the following contact information as your responsible person in the EU (this helps maintain our white-label status):
Name: SINDEN VENTURES LIMITED
Address: Markou Evgenikou 11, Mesa Geitonia 4002 Limassol, Cyprus
How do I update my products?
- Go to our product catalog or GPSR product lists to find the updated information.
- Copy and paste the relevant details into your product listings.
- Adjust the contact information as needed.
Some marketplaces have added special GPSR fields:
- Amazon: Use our Amazon-specific list and fill in the required GPSR fields, including the GPSR Safety Attestation. For Printful products, select “Yes” (no warnings required).
- eBay: Use our eBay-specific list and add manufacturer and responsible person details in the designated attributes.
- Etsy: Update each product listing and add an EU-based economic operator in your shop settings. If you’re outside the EU, use the SINDEN VENTURES details above.
If you don’t add the required information, marketplaces may hide or remove your listings from the EU and Northern Ireland.
What about warranties?
The EU’s two-year legal guarantee still applies under Directive 2019/771. You must offer a refund, replacement, or repair for faulty goods or goods that don’t work as advertised. This doesn’t cover normal wear and tear.
What will the safety information or labels include?
It depends on the product. We’ll make sure any safety information in our product data meets the legal requirements for the regions you sell to. You’re responsible for making sure your listings display the correct details.
