If a transaction fails, it’s usually because your bank declined it or Printful couldn’t process it. This article explains the most common reasons for failed payments and what you can do to fix them. We’ll also guide you through what steps to take depending on the error message you see.
Common reasons for failed credit card transactions
- Insufficient funds on your credit card or in your Printful Wallet: Top up your Wallet or make sure there are enough funds on your card, then manually approve the order from your Dashboard.
- Daily transaction limits set by your bank (common during high-order seasons like the holidays): Contact your bank to increase your limit, or try manually approving the order the next day.
- Fraud prevention blocks by your card provider, especially for non-US cards: Follow the instructions provided in the error message, or contact your bank for verification.
- Incorrect card details (number or expiration date): Double-check and update your card details under Billing → Billing methods, then manually approve the order.
- Processor errors: If you see a message that says “Processor Network Unavailable” in the order view or under Dashboard → Billing → Payments, this means our payment processor is experiencing a temporary issue. Wait a bit and try again, use a different payment method, or contact your card provider.
Common reasons for failed PayPal and other payment methods
- “PayPal pending payments are not supported” message: Contact PayPal support to review your account.
- Processor Network Unavailable: Just like with credit cards, this could be a temporary issue. Wait and try again, or use another payment method.
- No billing method added: If your order failed due to a missing billing method, you’ll need to add one to your account.
To confirm a failed order
If your order status shows as “Failed,” you can manually confirm and retry the payment. Go to your Printful Dashboard → Orders, then click on the failed order. Scroll to the bottom of the order page and click Confirm order. You’ll be redirected to the checkout page where you can retry the payment.
If you have multiple failed orders, you can bulk-approve them and pay all at once.
