When you check your order details or invoices, you may have noticed asterisks (****) instead of your customer’s personal information. This usually includes their full name, address, email, or phone number.
We do this to help keep you and your customers safe. By hiding personal details after a set timeframe, we reduce the risk of data leaks and protect everyone’s privacy.
What does this mean?
We use a method called pseudonymization. It’s a form of data protection that replaces personal details with symbols—like asterisks—so no one can identify your customer just by looking at the data.
When is the data hidden?
There are two timeframes depending on the order type:
- Amazon orders: Customer information is hidden 30 days after the delivery date.
- All other Printful orders: Information is hidden 180 days after the delivery date.
Once this process is complete, the data from your order view and invoices is permanently hidden, and we can’t retrieve or undo it.
What should I do if I need that data?
If you need to keep your customers’ personal information for tax, bookkeeping, or record-keeping reasons, make sure to download your order invoices before the 30 or 180 days pass.
