That depends on your location and settings. In most cases, the prices you see on product pages don’t include tax, but if you’re browsing from certain countries or have specific store preferences set, VAT may be included automatically.
Here’s a breakdown of when taxes are or aren’t included in the product prices you see:
When VAT is included in product prices
We include VAT (value-added tax) in product prices if:
- Your default selling region is set to:
- France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Spain, the UK, or Europe
- Your default selling region is set to Worldwide, and your IP address shows you’re browsing from:
- The EU, UK, Norway, Switzerland, or Liechtenstein
- You haven’t chosen a default selling region, but you’re browsing from one of the countries listed above
VAT rates by region
| Selling region | VAT rate |
| France | 20% |
| Germany | 19% |
| Italy | 22% |
| Latvia | 21% |
| Spain | 21% |
| UK | 20% |
| Europe | 21% (average) |
| Norway | 25% |
| Switzerland/Liechtenstein | 7.7% |
When VAT is not included
If you’re located outside of Europe and not selling to European countries, product prices on the site won’t include tax. The tax will be added during checkout based on where the order is shipped or fulfilled.
How to change whether prices include VAT
If you’d rather see prices without VAT included, you can adjust your settings:
- Go to your Dashboard
- Click Preferences in the top right corner
- Under Currency, click Edit
- If your browsing currency is EUR, you’ll see an option to include or exclude VAT
- Select Excluding VAT and click Apply
