Live shipping rates are calculated in real time based on the order’s size, weight, and destination to provide your customers with accurate shipping costs at checkout. It’s a smart way to offer transparent pricing without needing to set fixed rates yourself.
Who can use live shipping rates?
Live rates are available for stores that support this feature, including:
- Shopify stores on the Shopify Advanced and Plus plans.
- Shopify stores on the Shopify Grow plan with live rates (also known as Carrier Calculated Shipping, or CCS) added for $20/month. Learn more.
- WooCommerce stores.
- Ecwid by Lightspeed stores on the Venture, Business, or Unlimited plans.
- Custom stores built using our API.
- Orders placed directly on our website.
What shipping options will customers see?
Once you enable live rates, your customers will see available shipping methods based on their delivery location. These may include:
- Express – Fastest delivery.
- Standard – Regular shipping.
- Standard rate with CO2 offsetting.
- Standard DDP – For Canada and the UK, this includes duties and taxes in the shipping cost.
If a shipping method isn’t available in the customer’s area, it won’t appear at checkout. For example, if Express shipping isn’t supported in a specific country, only Standard options will show.
A few important notes
- Express shipping requires a phone number. Make sure you collect it from your customers to avoid shipping delays.
- Carrier selection is automatic. We’ll choose the best carrier for your shipment based on the selected shipping method and delivery location. You’ll find the carrier info in your shipping confirmation email when the order is dispatched and on the invoice.
- Live rates only apply to synced products. If a product isn’t synced in your Printful Dashboard, we can’t calculate a live rate for it.
