Selling on Amazon can sometimes be tricky, and you might run into issues when trying to publish products. Below are some common reasons why your products may not be going live on Amazon and how to fix them.
Required product attributes have changed
Amazon occasionally updates its listing requirements. If your product is missing newly required attributes or shows errors (like missing or invalid fields, or parent/child SKU issues), it may fail to publish.
If this happens, reach out to support so the issue can be reviewed. You can also try creating the product on Amazon first, then manually syncing it in Printful.
Variants show as individual listings
Product publishing usually takes 30-60 minutes, during this time all variants are pushed as individual products. It can take couple of days for amazon to combine the variants under a parent listing. If it has been longer, you can delete them and try again.
You don’t have a valid GTIN exemption for the product category
The product you are trying to publish may be missing a standard product identifier, such as a UPC, EAN, or ISBN. To resolve this issue, you will need to apply for a GTIN exemption. For detailed instructions on how to apply, read this article.
Duplicate or conflicting listing
If a similar product already exists in your Amazon inventory, publishing may fail due to mismatched or conflicting information.
Review your existing listings and ensure the new product details are accurate and clearly different.
Trademark or brand misuse
Using brand names or trademarked terms without authorization (e.g., well-known brands) can block your listing.
Double-check your title and description to ensure you’re not violating trademark rules, and confirm you have proper permissions if needed.
Product title and image don’t match
If your product title doesn’t align with the main image, the system may reject the listing.
Make sure both clearly represent the same product to avoid confusion.
Issues with the product title
Amazon has strict title guidelines. Publishing may fail if:
- The title already exists in your store
- It exceeds 125 characters
- It includes restricted terms
- It contains a brand name without approval
Adjust your title to meet Amazon’s requirements before trying again.
Weekly ASIN limit reached
Amazon limits how many new ASINs you can create each week. If you’ve reached that cap, publishing will fail.
You can try again after the limit resets (typically Sunday at 00:00 GMT).
App authorization expired
If your Amazon store has been connected for more than a year, the authorization may need to be refreshed.
Look for a reconnect prompt in your dashboard and reauthorize if needed.
