If a customer marks their Amazon order as a gift, that designation does not transfer to Printful automatically; we’ll process it as a regular order. If you want to include a personalized message on the packing slip, you’ll need to add these options within Printful manually.
What happens when a buyer marks their order as a gift
Amazon offers buyers options like gift messaging, gift wrapping, and discreet packaging. However, these settings only apply when orders are fulfilled directly by Amazon — they won’t be applied to products you sell on Amazon that are fulfilled by Printful.
If a buyer selects the gift option on Amazon, their order may appear without prices on the Amazon packing slip, and they might be able to add a personal message or choose gift wrapping. But this information isn’t sent to Printful, so we’ll fulfill the order as a regular order unless you manually add a gift message in your Printful Dashboard.
If you don’t want to offer gift messaging or wrapping at all, you can turn these features off in Amazon Seller Central under Settings → Gift Options.
Why Amazon gift options don’t transfer
- Amazon’s gift features, like messaging, price hiding, and wrapping, are buyer-selected options enabled in Seller Central.
- Since the Printful integration treats the order as a standard item, those Amazon-specific settings aren’t captured or sent to our system.
How to add a gift message via Printful
If you want to offer gift messaging on packing slips for orders fulfilled by Printful, you have two options:
1. Add a default message for all orders
- In your Printful Dashboard, go to Settings → Store settings → Branding.
- Select your store, then add your custom message (and logo if you’d like) to the Packing slip settings.
- This message will print on all packing slips for orders fulfilled in Printful facilities (it won’t appear if your order is sent to a backup or partner facility).
2. Add a message to an individual order
- When placing an order manually in Printful, check Include a personalized message at the Shipping step and type your note.
- This will appear only on the packing slip for that specific order.
For Amazon orders:
- Amazon’s gift messages don’t transfer to Printful automatically.
- To include a message, you’ll need to manually edit the imported order in Printful before it is shipped. One workaround is to disable automatic order approval for Amazon orders so you can review and add messages before sending them to fulfillment.
Currently, Printful doesn’t support gift wrapping.
